This translation project report is under the guidance of Skopos theory which is put forward by Hans J. Vermeer. In this theory, “aim” or “purpose” is the fundamental rule for translation. This theory includes such three basic principles as Skopos rule, Coherence rule as well as Fidelity rule. In short, the purpose of translation decides the methods of translation. This translation project report is based on chapter 7 of the book Cites in the Global Economy which is an informative text talking about the ways to better sustainably develop cities. Thus, the translator thinks that the purpose of this translation is to convey the information and used for reference for the target readers. Such translation methods are adopted as literal translation and free translation, sequential translation, splitting translation and conversion. During the process of translation, the author deeply experienced the guidance of Skopos theory by Hans J Vermeer to the purpose of the translation.
