This is a translation project report on Energy-Based Economic Development:How Clean Energy can Drive Development and Stimulate Economic Growth by Sanya Carley and Sara Lawrence,of which Chapters 6 and 7 are the source texts.Chapter 6 reviews the criteria used to select the case studies and presents the range of case locations,approaches,energy types,economic development strategies and policies while Chapter 7 mainly introduces local or subnational EBED projects.This translation report is divided into five parts.Part One is a general introduction to the report,including its background,significance and structure.Part Two gives a description of the book,its authors and the selected translation text with the focus on the analysis of the text.Part Three explains to readers the theoretical guidance of the translation work,that is,Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory and how the theory is used as the guideline in the translation process and applied to translate informative texts.Part Four focuses on translation difficulties and solutions.Long sentences are a prominent feature of the source text and the translator mainly employs sequential translation and rearrangement to deal with long sentences.Part Five is a conclusion of the project,including experience and enlightenment gained during the translation process and some problems to be solved.
