Exercises in interpreting class are essential for would-be interpreters to acquire skills in simultaneous interpreting and develop their own strategies. In order to improve students'interpreting ability, teachers should carefully review their performances in class to identify common flaws in both processes of comprehension and expression. This thesis attempts to deconstruct the practice of interpreting in class under the analytical framework of comprehension, expression and emergency response(CEER),relevance theory and functional compensation. It offers insights into the causes of the flaws in each student's interpreting, discusses proper solutions to each case we study, and highlights teachers'roles in those solutions. In the conclusion, the thesis comes up with two practical methods to solve the common challenges facing students in interpreting exercises. These methods are crystalized from a combined understanding of CEER framework and relevance theory. The challenges in understanding and expression process may suggest a lack of application of these theories by students.
