As a crucial part of Chinese language,it is the toughest portion for foreign students to learn Chinese characters,as a result,Chinese characters’ teaching to foreign students has gotten more and more attention from various of scholars.In 1980 s,the domestic scholars had done lots of researches which had made fruitful results.However,there are lots of spaces that can be improved.In terms of this point,Li Yunfu advocated the conception of three planes of Chinese characters and introduced the characters’ teaching methods guided by it.According to the questionnaire surveys and interviews to the students of the Confucius Institute in Burundi University,there are lots of problems in the sequence of Chinese characters’ strokes,the using functions of Chinese characters and so on.The comparing results of Chinese characters’ teaching experiment guided by the three planes of Chinese characters showed that the theory is so meaningful for Chinese characters’ teaching.The conception of three planes of Chinese characters plays an important role in many fields.And emphasizing the using function has given the right direction and key-point to the Chinese characters teaching,providing more experiences for Chinese characters’ teaching in Burundi.
