There exists a common problem in tourism translation,that is,the translations emphasize too much on the faithful delivery of source text while ignoring target readers’comprehension,acceptance,and the cultural differences between two languages.As a result,the target text fails to realize the informative and communicative functions,and to reach the translation purpose.At the same time,the readers of target text can hardly understand and accept the source text’s content,and appreciate foreign culture.The root of this problem is the lack of scientific theory to guide tourism translation.Comparing with other translation theories,which are mostly from the perspective of traditional linguistics,they emphasize the information delivery of source text,but consider little about the effect of other factors on tourism translation.Nord’s Text Analysis is a theory which emphasizes the analysis of source text,and concerns target readers’ feelings and the realization of translation functions and purpose.Tourism translation has its three features of informative function,communicative function and cultural function.The features are corresponded to the idea of Nord’s Text Analysis Model.Thus there is tight relevance between Nord’s Text Analysis Model and tourism translation.Therefore,it is reasonable to apply Nord’s TextAnalysis Model to guide tourism translation.This paper only studies the translation strategies of scenic spots introductions.For most researches,they are either clarifications of theories without first hand materials,or examples’ analysis without the guide of scientific theories.While this paper combines the theory with concrete examples.It adopts many research methods,such as:spot investigation method,data statistical analysis method,literature analysis method.Thus,it is a shift of theory and method to apply Nord’s Text Analysis Model to guide the translation strategies of scenic spots introductions.This paper is the study on C-E translation strategies of scenic spots introductions from the perspective of Nord’s Text Analysis Model.Firstly,it gives an introduction to the tourism translation and its features of informative function,communicative function and cultural function.And it describes the tourism translation studies at abroad and home.Then it points out the significance of tourism translation and the structure of the thesis.Secondly,it gives an introduction of Nord’s Text Analysis Model.It mainly presents the foundations of Nord’s Text Analysis Model,and the main content of the factors of source text analysis and function plus loyalty.Lastly,based on Nord’s Text Analysis Model and the three translation purposes of informative function,communicative function and cultural function,it puts forward nine common translation strategies:literal translation for adequacy,deletion of redundancy,sentence reconstruction,change of expression,semantic amplification,shift of perspective,transliteration plus explanation,analogy for resonance,adaptation for accommodation.By using those translation strategies,it contributes to the realization of informative function,communicative function and cultural function of scenic spots introductions,and reaches its translation purpose. |
