Discussion On The Structure Of Vocational Interest Types And The Development Of Scale

Purpose(1)Explore the vocational interest structure of Chinese people;(2)Organize the vocational interest scale and test the reliability and validity of college students,in order to guide the college students to make a better career choice and career planning;(3)Understand the factors that influence the vocational interest of the incumbents.Methods(1)By the methods of literature,internet searching,open scale,content analysis,expert evaluation and other methods,a vocational interest structure contains 14 types was constructed,and a vocational interest project library contains 231 items of career activities was formed;(2)Form a scale out of the vocational interest project library in a spiral arrangement;Then the 14 factors of vocational interest structure were tested,and the initial scale was formed;(3)The initial survey was used to measure the college students and the incumbents in 13 provinces and cities in China,obtain 4950 valid data,and statistical analysis was conducted.Results(1)Formal scale contains 91 items with 13 factors was obtained after exploratory factor analysis;(2)The results of reliability and construct validity were good,and were in good accordance with the standard of psychological measurement;(3)The analysis of criterion related validity: the formal scale and Occupation Commitment Scale were used in this part;the samples(contains 970 data)with a high degree of commitment(scored in the top 30% of the occupation commitment scale)were used as calibration;an analysis of variance was performed on 13 occupational interests in 11 occupational categories,and the post hoc test showed that 11 occupational subjects,except for Technology,Operation,Fitness and Politics,were significant in the remaining nine vocational interest types(Sig <0.05);(4)In order to explore the factors that affect the type of vocational interest,descriptive statistics,independent sample test and variance analysis were conducted among the incumbent samples,the results show that: 1)the incumbents of China got higher scores in Fitness,Politics and Consecration,and lower scores in Technology,Nature science and Operation;2)in addition to Humanities,there were significant gender differences in the other 12 types of vocational interest(Sig <0.05):among them,scores of males were significantly higher than females in Technology,Adventure,Enterprise,Operation,Nature science,Fitness and Politics(Sig <0.05),and scores of males were significantly lower than females in Literary creation,Artistic creation,Consecration,Demonstration,and Regular business(Sig <0.05);3)in addition to Consecration and Operation,there were significant academic differences in the other 11 vocational interest types(Sig <0.05).Conclusion(1)The vocational Interest scale of college students contains 13 dimensions,respectively,Operation,Technology,Nature science,Humanities,Artistic creation,Literary creation,Demonstration,Consecration,Enterprise,Politics,Regular business,Fitness and Adventure;(2)The content validity,structural validity,calibration validity and reliability of this scale are good;(3)Males are more inclined to Technology,Adventure,Enterprise,Operation,Nature science,Fitness and Politics,and females are more inclined to Literary creation,Artistic creation,Consecration,Demonstration,Regular business;and the groups in different academic levels have different types of vocational interest;(4)This vocational Interest scale can be used as a tool for career planning and career planning of college students.
