| The abbreviated Personal Globe Inventory (PGI-40) is one of the newest vocational interest inventories. Tracey reduced the108items of Personal Globe Inventory to40items in2009. My study is designed to revise the activity preference part.After translation and three testing, I sampled1289students from university in Zibo, Jinan, Taian, Dongying of Shandong Province, and then I established gender and major norms of students from university in Shandong Province. The results of this study are as follows:(1) The scale. In formal scale,6items are replaced and it is40items totally that remain in the scale. These items are designed to measure10dimensions, including Social Facilitating, Managing, Business Detail, Data Processing, Mechanical, Nature/Outdoors, Artistic, Helping, High prestige, and Low prestige. Each dimension has4items and a7-point Likert-type response format is used to rate.(2) Reliability analysis. Reliability of formal scale is good:The internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach-α) of the whole scale is0.927:Cronbach-α of10dimensions is between0.643and0.751; After2weeks, the test-retest reliability coefficient of the whole scale is0.882, and test-retest reliability coefficients of7dimensions is between0.793and0.923.(3) Validity analysis. The results of content validity, structural validity, congruent validity, differential validity, predictive validity demonstrate that the validity of the formal PGI-40scale Chinese version is good.Content validity:After revised and checked by several psychology experts, the Chinese edition of scale is of high content validity. Meanwhile, I have applied correlation method to examine the content validity. The result shows that there is a higher correlation between the item and the dimension the item belong to than the correlation between the item and the other dimensions.Structural validity:The results of separate factor analysis demonstrate that there is a common factor and three substantive factors:People/Things, Data/Ideas, and Prestige; the results of level factor analysis show that KMO of each dimension is higher than0.60and Bartlett sphere test is significant. There is a common factor in each dimension; the results of randomness test present that correspondence index (CI) of RIASEC is0.833; correspondence index (CI) of eight basic interests is0.726.Congruent validity:The correlation between PGI-40and interest inventory of Taiwan university entrance examination is0.723-0.866; the correlation between PGI-40and PGI-A is 0.921-0.978.Differential validity:The results of F Test demonstrate that there is a significant difference between R and I, S, E on Realistic type; There is a significant difference between I and R, A, S, E on Investigation type; There is a significant difference between A and R, I, E, C on Artistic type; There was significant difference between S and R, I, A, E, C on Social type; There is a significant difference between E and I on Enterprise type; There is a significant difference between C and R, I, A, S, E on Conventional type.Predictive validity:The contingency coefficient between equivalence indicators and the degree of satisfaction is0.659, shows that inventory can predict the degree of satisfaction of participators. The hit rate of participator in each type is from19.2%-59.7%and the average hit rate is32.1%which is much higher than random hit rate16.7%.
