This is a translation project report on Chapter 10 “Communicating during Disasters: Insights from the 2013 Bundaberg Flood” in Crisis Communication in a Digital World. This chapter is co-authored by Amisha Mehta and Dominique A.Greer.Based on a brief introduction to the translation project and its background, this report conducts further investigations about difficulties and their approaches during translating under the guidance of Newmark's techniques for informative texts. This report holds the view that a translator should follow the translation principle of“authenticity coming first” and apply the translation skills of splitting, assembling, conversion and amplification when dealing with an informative text.Especially when handling long and complex sentences, translators should take into account the context of the original text, endeavoring to the target texts faithful, smooth, fluent and natural in accordance with the expressions of the target language. This translation project explores the difficulties of translation and the corresponding translation strategies with typical example sentences selected from the original text.In additional to guaranteeing the correctness and accuracy of the translated version, translators should also take into consideration the stylistic traits of the source, attempting to make the style of the target text identical with that of the original text. This project comprises four main chapters.Chapter One is an introduction to the background of this report and translation demand, including its background, goal, significance and structure.Chapter Two concerns itself about the main content, linguistic features and textual analysis of the source text.Chapter Three mainly focuses key difficulties and corresponding translation theories and solutions in the process of translation.Chapter Four comes to the end of the translation report,in which the translator concludes her gains from and limitations of the translation project.
