With the globalization and China's increasing role on the international stage,business travel is becoming more and more frequent and worldwide in China.After a careful investigation,the author of this report chooses Religions of the Silk Road to translate to meet the needs of this boom so as to contribute a bit to China's economic development.By studying and reviewing the relevant theories,the author of this report aims to adopt effective theories and feasible methods to make the translation faithful to the source text and readable and smooth to the target Chinese readers.The purpose of the source text is to provide information,therefore,the Skopos theory is chosen as the guidance,and the three principles of the theory becomes the guiding principles in the author's translation practice.Before the translation begins,the author have made very careful and detailed preparations including theory choosing,parallel papers hunting and source textual reading.In the translation,the author has met some difficulties at the word level and the sentence level.In order to render a satisfying translation,the author has used different translation methods to deal with difficulties and problems.For the words translation,the author of the report recommends transliteration first and then conventional methods;for long and difficult sentences,the author uses both literal and liberal translation,readjustment of words,and splitting the sentences and so on.The suggested and employed methods are proved very effective in translating the business traveling texts.Due to the insufficient knowledge of translation theories and lack of translation practice,the author of this report has made great effort,yet,this translation is still far from being perfect;therefore,much needs to be done to make this report more worthy of academic value and spreading.
