As the largest developing country in the world,China has played a significant role in the world economy,military affairs and culture.With the acceleration of globalization,Chinese traditional culture has become more and more important in the world.Therefore,as a bridge of cultural communication,the role that translation has been playing can not be underestimated.The Human Culture of Chinese Spiritwaswritten by Zhang Qizhi and published in 1997.This report is based on Chinese to English translation versions of Chapter Three and Four from this book.This report is composed of four chapters.The first chapter relates to the translation task,including the task description,goal and significance of the task.Chapter two is the process of the task,including the preparation,the process and the polishing of the translation.Chapter three is the theoryof translation,including the introduction and specific application of Aesthetic Theory to translation.Chapter Four is the study and analysis on translation cases,which is also the core part of this report.Based on Aesthetic Theory on translation,this report focuses on the translation of titles,Chinese culture-specific words,simple Chinese sentences,ancient Chinese,metaphor and symbolization.At last,problems of the translation work are concluded.Through this translation experience,the author has realized that an excellent translation work is composed by both Chinese and English skills and completed under the guidance of specific translation theories.
