This is an applied statistical research.In this paper,focusing on the hot topic about developing good study habits of middle school students,an analysis research was made,based on the statistical theory and methodology,such as factor analysis,principal component analysis,correlation analysis and structural equation model,taking middle school students in Jishou as the research subjects.It mainly discussed the effects on the middle school students' study habits of the parenting styles.Also some useful suggestions were made to develop the students' good study habits.In this research,stratified random sampling method was utilized to randomly select 750 survey subjects from two middle schools in Jishou City(No.1 Middle School and No.4 Middle School)to complete the "Study Habits Questionnaire" and "EMBU".730 questionnaires were recovered.After data cleaning with some statistical indicators,566 questionnaires were finalized.In order to understand the reliability and stability of the Study Habits Questionnaire and EMBU,the reliability test and the validity test were carried out respectively.Through factor analysis and principal component analysis on Study Habits Questionnaire,two factors of study habits were summarized,i.e."problem solving habit" and "planning habit".For exploring the correlation between these two factors,a correlation analysis between them was carried out.Five factors of "EMBU" were summarized,i.e."emotional warmth and understanding","punishment and severity","rejection and denial","excessive interference and overprotection" and "favoritism";and these five factors can be divided into 11 secondary factors,including 6 father dimensions and 5 mother dimensions.Based on the classification by two factors of study habits or by 11 secondary factors of parenting styles,the differences in the dimension of the demographic data were analyzed,so as to understand their specifics in demographic data.A typical correlation model was constructed between two factors of juniors' study habits and five factors of parenting styles,then the correlation between two groups of typical variables were figured out;by constructing the structural equation model of study habits,also fitting and adjustment of such model,the factors of parenting styles with impacts on study habits of middle school students were summarized,so as to provide effective reference for parents of juniors in Jishou and help the students develop good study habits.The results of structural equation model showed that the effect of demographic factors on study habits(p=0.497>0.05)or parental rearing style(p=0.439>0.05)was not significant,and the effect of parental rearing style on study habits(P=0.003<0.05)was significant,the direct effect was 0.806;the direct effects of "problem solving" and "schoolwork planning" on study habits were both 0.123 and direct positive impacts;the indirect effects of "emotional warmth and understanding","punishment and severity","rejection and denial","excessive interference and overprotection" and "favoritism" on study habits were 0.293,-0.672,-0.671,-0.526,-0.031 respectively.This suggested that "emotional warmth and understanding" has a positive impact to promote students to develop good study habits;while "punishment and severity","rejection and denial","excessive interference and overprotection" and "favoritism" have negative impacts to inhibit students to develop good study habits;in which,the positive impact of "emotional warmth and understanding" was overwhelmed by the negative impacts of "punishment and severity","rejection and denial" and "excessive interference and overprotection";although "favoritism" had negative impact on inhibiting middle school students to develop good study habits,but such impact was limited.Based on the above results,this paper can provide some effective suggestions for parents of juniors in Jishou,in order to develop their good study habits: first,parents should pay great attention on aspects of "problem solving" and "schoolwork planning" to cultivate children's good habits,such as guiding children to develop plans,reasonably arrange schoolwork and plan the life,and giving children appropriate space to develop their ability to solve the problem independently;second,if possible,the parents should try to accompany children often,timely and effectively communicate with the latter,give them care,attention and support;finally,the rearing styles of "punishment and severity","rejection and denial" and "excessive interference and overprotection" should be used very cautiously,for the middle school students,criticizing may stimulate their desire for progress sometimes,but commonly these styles trend to produce negative impacts.
