A Report On The E-C Translation Of Passive Voice Sentences In Global Marine Technology Trends 2030

With the development of the globalization of trade,global marine technologies are evolving and innovating with each passing day.In the next several ten years,it will have a profound impact on the worldwide commercial shipping,naval,and the ocean space sectors.Competition in marine rights and interests among nations is intensifying,so the search for the world's s leading,cost-effective marine technology is of vital importance,and to further enhance our maritime strength and safeguard our maritime rights and interests is worth giving higher priority to.In this process,the E-C translation of foreign latest marine technology texts is essential.Passive voice could often be seen in English technology articles,and these predicate verbs in the passive voice are usually surrounded by complicated sentence structures and lengthy technology terms.So,there are some difficulties in translating passive sentences,to some extent,it will harm the enthusiasm of Chinese people to learn foreign advanced technologies.At present,domestic researches on the E-C translation of passive sentences in EST of maritime English are quite limited,so this research will be valuable.Several chapters of Global Marine Technology Trends 2030 have once been translated by the author.Passive sentences have been extensively used in the original text of marine technology,so as to show its objectivity and logicality,but its translation will become obscure and abstruse if a translator mechanically copy the original sentence structure.The English passive sentences are the research objects of this translation practice,based on the structure features of passive sentences,the author adopts case analysis method,a number of typical passive sentences have been picked out for contrastively analyzing.Then,considering from the two perspectives that English passive sentences can be both literally translated and paraphrased,the author concludes some practicable translation strategies and methods,such as to translate the passive sentences into Chinese explicit passive sentences,semi-explicit passive sentences,implicit passive sentences,etc.This report aims to summarize the translation experience and introspect the deficiencies,so as to provide reference for the future translation of similar science and technology texts.
