A Report On The Simulate Consecutive Interpreting From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

Cultural soft power is the core national comprehensive strength.The advancement of China's national cultural soft power will contribute to the speedy realization of the “two one-hundred-year” goal and the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation.Throughout the world today,the increasingly competitive national strength makes a growing number of countries begin to focus on the status and role of cultural soft power and its integration into their strategy of national development.China is a country with a long history and a splendid culture.With the implementation and deepening of the culture strategies of “going out” and “developing soft power” in recent years,China has produced and broadcast quantities of documentaries for promoting her magnificent culture to the world,among which Spring Festival is a documentary series with the theme of Spring Festival,the most important festival for Chinese,broadcast on China Central Television in 2016,which records stories of different Chinese families in welcoming and celebrating the festival and reveals people's pursuit of festivals as well as good life.This simulative consecutive interpretation report is written by the author under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,in which the whole process of the simulative interpretation is described including: material selection,pre-translation preparation,case study of words,sentence structure and discourse.In addition,the report also discusses the difficulties encountered in the practice of the simulative interpretation and the countermeasures in solving them.Through the combination of theory and practice,it is found that: first,interpreters should be aware of the preference of the source language to use gorgeous rhetoric and pompous words in which case the interpreters should integrate the key points for the representation of the general ideas;second,interpreters should compensate the cultural defaults caused by the cultural differences in order to guarantee the smooth delivery of the information,and therefore alleviating the audience's burden in understanding and achieving the goal of cross-cultural communication;third,interpreters should adopt the interpreting method of foreignization in view of the unique culture-loaded words in the source language in order to maintain the original flavor,which could not only meet the need of culture integration but also broaden the audience's horizon;fourth,interpreters should take into account the conventions of the languages concerned as well as the different thinking modes and promote a better understanding from the audience by appropriate addition or deletion of words,phrases or sentences in the source language;fifth,interpreters should attach importance to the hidden logical relationship of the source language caused by the differences of the two languages.Also,interpreters should append linking words to reveal the relations when processing the acquired information;sixth,interpreters should shake off the linguistic constraints to process the listened information after full understanding of the source language and employ the expression which is close to the target language in order to meet the requirements of the target language.The Interpretive Theory provides significant guidance to the cultural interpretation practice which not only enhances the author's understanding and perceptions of interpretation practice as well as his practical interpretation abilities,but also offers a channel for foreign audience to understand China and her profound and splendid culture for promoting better exchanges and cooperation between China and the world.
