The Curve is written by Nicholas Lovell,a famous consultant,gamer and writer in America.It is a kind of practical text about marketing,also a book containing rich cases.In this book,he comes up with the idea of the curve and tells readers how entrepreneurs should depend on the thought of the curve to make money in future business where most service is free.Its content includes science and technology,media,music and books which are related closely with our daily life.This book and its ideas are important for anybody involved in business planning,marketing and research.The first chapter of the book has been chosen as translating material and research object in order to make readers interested in it and gain a lot of useful information.The original work contains views in style,strong guidance,rich content,which is worthy of being translated.In view of its concise style,wide readers from various fields and information in style,The Curve is regarded as a comprehensively practical text with vocative and incentive function that has the characteristics of both vocative text and information text.The translation should be output with simple and popular expressions so as to inspire readers to arouse emotional resonance with the author under the guidance of Newmark's text typology theory.In the translation process,many difficulties were met especially in the translation of words and phrases which are related various industries.This report lays the emphasis on cases analysis of words and phrases translating as well as complicated sentences translation by stating specific translating strategies,such as word transformation,class shift,sentence splitting,structural reorganization and counter translation and so on.At last,the translating practice shows that encyclopedic knowledge is very important and much hard work should be done to improve my translating ability in practical text.
