Interpreting Tactics Of Culture-loaded Expressions From The Perspective Of The Interpretive Theory

Language and culture are closely related to each other.As the carrier of culture,languages are abundant with cultural elements.Extensive and profound cultural elements are contained in Chinese expressions as idioms,allusions,phrases,poems,etc.The interpretation of these culture-loaded expressions has always been a challenge in interpretation.From the perspective of the Interpretive Theory,what interpreters are supposed to convey is ?sense?,so they should not be constrained by the forms of languages.Instead,proper interpreting strategies should be applied to convey sense,so as to facilitate effective communication.Taking the interpretation of Chinese Premiers press conferences as linguistic data,this research analyses and sorts out some effective interpreting tactics towards culture-loaded expressions.Specifically,literal interpretation,free interpretation,explanatory interpretation,borrowed interpretation and omission can be adopted to deal with the interpretation of culture-loaded expressions.
