Report On Translation Of How We Got To Now:Six Innovations That Made The Modern World

Popular science text is a kind of text based on the purpose of introducing scientific and technological knowledge,combining the professional knowledge of the texts for science and technology and the beautiful language of the literary text,which has a wide range of readers.The purpose of translating the popular science texts is to cross the language barrier and attract more readers from different languages and culture background.Combined with the purpose of popular science text translation,the target text needs to be more readable and to make readers enjoy the beauty of the target languages,so that people can be drawn to and immersive in these stories,and acquire the relevant professional knowledge through interesting reading,making readers feel enjoyable and educational.In view of the above translation requirements of the popular science text,this report,based on the theories on translation aesthetics,and through translating part of the book--How We Got to Now: Six Innovations That Made the Modern World,explores how the theories on translation aesthetic guide the translation of the popular science text,by analyzing the classic cases from two aspects including manifesting these aesthetics in the translation and the way to achieve aesthetics.This translation report mainly includes four parts.The first part is the introduction of the translation project,including the information of this translation task,a brief description of this translation process,and detailed analysis of the purpose and significance of this translation project.The second part is the elaboration of the selected theory on translation aesthetics.The third part is based on the translation practice task,explaining the relevant translation cases from four aspects,and exploring the three translation techniques in order to show the guidance of the theory on translation aesthetics.The last part summarizes what have been learned in this translation,finding problems,seeking solutions,and applying the translation skills learned in this task to future translations.
