Translation Report On Transediting Travel News On Huanqiu Website From The Perspective Of Rewriting Theory

The task of transediting travel news on Huanqiu website aims to offer Chinese readers more online tourism information by translating and editing valuable English news reports from mainstream foreign websites.Andre Lefevere,an American translation theorist,proposes the rewriting theory,which centered on the idea that translation is a rewriting of an original text,and it is subject to three elements: ideology,poetics and patronage.Ideology is often closely related with politics,while in Lefevere's point of view,ideology is not confined to the political field;it also consists of the mode,tradition and belief that regulates and restricts our behaviors.The concept of poetics is beyond the studies in poetry,and it extends to the art form,aesthetic idea and cultural convention.And the patronage means something like the powers that facilitate or hinder the reading,writing and rewriting of literature and it can be extended to persons,a religious party,a royal court,publishers,the media,or the culture and ideology dominating the social system.The rewriting theory offers a brand new research perspective for translation study,and enriches the content of the translation theory,meanwhile,broadens the scope of translation studies.And on the basis of the rewriting theory,this report demonstrates its influence on transediting from three aspects: ideology,poetics and patronage through case studies.The report consists of three chapters.The first chapter is the introduction to the background information of the transediting task,the description of the source text and the preparations work for the transediting task.And the second chapter can be divided into two parts.The former part is about the main idea of the rewriting theory and its guidance to the task,and based on the case study,the latter part focuses on how the ideology,poetics and patronage influence the transediting process and what translation strategy I have taken to transedit.The last part is the summary,with the aim to offer some feasible suggestions to the news transediting.
