Cross-cultural interpersonal communication is a process of thoughts and feelings exchange between people from different cultural background.It is important for people under cross-cultural background and it is one of the important reflects of their cross-cultural life.In recent years,"Chinese hot" have arisen in the world with the rapid development of China's economy.To meet the needs of the Chinese teacher,a large number of volunteer teachers will be send to abroad every year.So,if the Chinese volunteer teachers can adapt to work and life or have good communication with the local people has become a very worthy concern.According to the author's experience,problems are still existed when Chinese volunteer teachers communicated with local people in Thailand.In order to know the actual cross-cultural interpersonal situation of Chinese volunteers in Thailand,the author adopted the method which combining quantitative research and qualitative research to investigate the Chinese volunteer group teaching in the north of Thai.Then,the author analyzed the results of investigation according to the basic theory of interpersonal communication and cross-cultural adaptation theory.The results show that Chinese volunteer teachers in Thai still encountered a lot of problems when they communicate with the local people.In daily life,the level of interaction between volunteer teachers and the local people is lower and the group which volunteer teachers could contact is limited and communication frequency is not high.All of the problems are not conducive for volunteer teachers to establish good interpersonal relationship with local people.When it comes to work,Chinese teachers keep harmonious relations withe school leader,colleagues and students,but still prone to occur misunderstanding,conflict and even cause tense interpersonal situation.In addition,the volunteer teachers feel more difficult to keep good relationship with leaders and colleagues than student,and tend to be more passive when communicated with leaders and colleagues.The cross-cultural interpersonal problems that Chinese volunteer teachers in Thai encountered are caused by many factors.Among them,the language barrier is the greatest impact.Secondly,culturedifferences,especially how to understand the true feelings of the Thai people,hierarchy,privacy gender culture are the important factors of cross-cultural interpersonal communication.Thirdly,there are some objective factors that influence to the Thai Chinese volunteer teachers' interpersonal relationship.For example,the volunteer teachers have not enough platform and opportunity to communicate with local people because it difficult for them to overcome the natural environment and they have a lot of work to do.Finally,there are still some objective factors that affect volunteer teachers cross-cultural interpersonal communication.Such as deviation impression to Thais,their own personality psychological characteristics,and is insufficient motivation to keep good relationship with the local Thai people.In the end,according to cross-cultural interpersonal problems and its reasons,this paper put forward some corresponding suggestions to help the Thai Chinese volunteer teachers to adapt the work and daily life in Thailand.The suggestions referred to three aspects including the volunteers themselves,volunteer training from Hanban and the management of Thailand school.
