A Report Of E-C Translation Of Ceramic English

With a long history,Chinese ceramics culture is extensive and profound,which enables china to become an ambassador of China to bridge China and the world since the ancient time.However,it is not optimistic for translating ceramic culture,because there are a large number of porcelain terms without unified expressions,and the accurate translation needs to be studied.This practice report selected Chinese Ceramics as translation subject,which mainly introduces the fine Chinese porcelain in the British Museum,aiming to summarize the translation of ceramic English terms and ceramic names.Katharina Reiss' Text Typology grouped the text into four categories: informative text,expressive text,operative text and audio-visual text.During the translation of the selected material,Text Typology was chosen to analyze the original text,meanwhile,various translation methods and skills were adopted,such as literal translation,free translation,transliteration,amplification,conversion and splitting-off,etc.In this paper,the situation of ceramic translation home and abroad was analyzed firstly,which defined Text Typology and illustrated its usage in the paper,then concluded the translation methods and skills on the basis of translation version,through which the ceramic English would be more precisely.
