A Practice Report On Simulative Consecutive Interpreting Of “The 11^th EU-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair”

With the continuous openness to the outside world,the connection and exchanges between China and other countries are becoming increasingly frequent.Various international meetings,forums and seminars spring up year by year throughout the country,involving politics,economy and trade,culture and academia,as well as other fields.Consecutive interpreting,as one form of interpretation,has been playing a crucial role in these international activities,especially in most of the small and medium-sized meetings.EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair,founded in 1988,is aimed to promote a comprehensive communication and seeks for more close cooperation opportunities in trade,investment and technology between EU member states and enterprises in other regions.Based on the real simulative consecutive interpreting of an important speech in the “11th EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair”,this report introduced the process and evaluated its quality in details,from the preparation work to the analysis and conclusion after the practice was finished.At the same time,this report did a thorough case analysis of the problems and key and difficult points in the speech,and came up with several well-targeted skills and strategies against them enlightened by Interpretive Theory and Effort Models in Interpretation by Daniel Gile.The practice highly imitated the scene when the conference was held and the report recorded the process faithfully.This valuable experience and the knowledge organized and concluded from this simulative consecutive interpreting will be of reference significance for future study and interpreting tasks.
