A Survey Of Using The Wechat By Foreign Students And Its Impact On Chinese Learning

With the development of China's economy and the enhancement of its comprehensive strength,the demand for cross-cultural communication has increased.The number of Chinese learners has gone up constantly.As Chinese learning is increasingly popular,Wechat has attracted 65% netizens in just four years.Its rapid development and popularity have made it an incredibly eye-catching social media platform,with biggest increase of subscribers and influence.This thesis mainly explores the use of Wechat among overseas students and the influence of Wechat on their Chinese learning.Started from development trends and features of Wechat,especially its attractiveness in language,the thesis went on exploring the use of Wechat among foreign students by means of handing out questionnaires and making interviews.The research aims to collect information on their knowledge of and attitudes towards using of Wechat,time of using and their views on the prospects of Wechat etc.Through this research,the author seeks to know the influence of Wechat on their Chinese learning,including phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and Chinese characters learning.Based on the results analysis,the author concluded Wechat plays a positive part on foreign students' Chinese learning process.By using Wechat,they can consolidate what they learn in class,acquire additional knowledge,enhance their understanding of Chinese culture and improve their cross-cultural communication skills.In the last part,the author pointed out some existing problems for foreign students to learn Chinese when using Wechat and offered suggestions for both teachers and foreign students.For teachers,they can facilitate and encourage students to use Wechat as an alternative way to learn Chinese.As for foreign students,they should use Wechat more frequently and actively so as to enhance their self-study capacity and learn the authentic Chinese.
