Practice Report On The Escort Interpreting For The Algerian Ambassador To China In The Eighth China Longnan Qiqiao Girls' Festival

Against the backdrop of economic globalization,escort interpreting has played an increasingly important role in China' s economic,political and cultural exchanges with the world at lar ge.Language is a car rier to culture.In the process of people communicating with each other,language is closely related to local culture.Cultural difference is one of challenges that interpreters can meet in the work,so it is essential to deal with it in an ef fective manner.The thesis focuses on the practice when the author accompanied the Algerian ambassador to China to take pa rt in the Eigh th China Longan Qiqiao Girls' Festival on August 1st??2nd,2016.In practice,the author mainly met two kinds of problems,one kind of problem is caused by cultural differences.Another kind of problem is inadequate preparation and background knowledge.This also influences quality of interpretation.Guided by the Interpretive Theory,the author proposed three strate gies according tothe two kinds of problems: literal interpreting with extra explanations,transliterating and free interpreting.Besides,the author give s some advice about how to i mprove cross-cultural awareness: improving the st udy of m other and foreign culture and cultural differences.The authorhopes this thesis can help other interpreters.
