Communicative Translation In Transmission Of Meanings

The development of advanced software has greatly changed people's life and operation modes of companies.Besides,some foreign software recognized by the public are more advanced than the domestic congeneric products,which has been imported into China and implemented by Chinese companies.Correspondingly,the significance of translation and software localization has been realized by increasing companies.The report is based on the translation of Oracle Watchlist Screening(OWS)Case Management Training,which is a workbook for the trainees in Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation(HSBC).OWS training courses are designed to provide them with the background of changes required,and the key knowledge and skills to use the new software.Translation of workbooks or reference works have been researched by numerous translation theories at home and abroad and the material belongs to the informative text whose content and language is objective.While communicative translation strategy of Newmark is based on text analysis,thus,it is a practical method for translators to follow in practice.Moreover,in translating the workbook,lots of software screenshots have to be translated through computer aided translation(CAT)tools.Therefore,this is another ability required in practice to deal with the translation.The translation is expected to help the trainees to have a better understanding on how to use the new software.Some shortcomings in dealing with meaning transmission and the accuracy of words still exist.However,the communicative translation strategy of Newmark has great guiding significance to translation and meaning transmission,especially in translating informative texts.Nowadays,knowing how to use computer aided translation tools becomes more important for translators in handling with all kinds of translation works.
