The source text of this translation is the introduction of Woodblock Lunar New Year Paintings Museum of Huaxian County.It is divided into six parts: Preface,Representative Works,Manufacturing Process,Color Design,Features and Characteristics,Ancient Printing Block Protection,and Development and Research.Today,the New Year Painting's aesthetic value has drawn wide concern as a significant cultural heritage.The author hopes this translation can provide a platform for its development and supply an example for the further research on the English translation of museum introduction.The introduction is translated under the guidance of Functionalist Skopos theory which emphasizes the intercultural action with purpose and highlights its influence on the translation strategies.It is applicable to the Skopos theory since the introduction belongs to public signs in form and its content belongs to publicity text.It is quite remarkable that the translation of this introduction serves as a written material when narrator needs interpret its content for foreign visitors.It is necessary for the narrator to change the language style and form in the practice.The report is made up of five chapters.Chapter one,the author gives a general description from the project's overview and purpose and the report's structure.Chapter two,the author describes the process of preparations,translation and proof-reading.Chapter three,the author introduces the Functionalism Skopos theory which is used as a guidance in this translation project.Chapter four,the author studies the cases of translation from the perspective of culture-loaded words,long sentences and Chinese couplets in source text to analysis the specific translation strategies.Chapter five,the author makes a conclusion on the findings and limitations during the process of translation.
