A Practice Report On The Translation Of Guiyang International Vocational Education And Communication Center

This practice report is written based on the translation practice of the first four chapters of Guiyang International Vocational Education and Communication Center.This project plan is declared by Guiyang Vocational and Technical College,aiming to establish a base of international talent cultivation and scientific research in Guiyang so as to expand cooperation of vocational education and cultivate international talents.This project will play an important role in conducting communication and cooperation of vocational education and boosting the sustainable development of Guiyang.This report first analyzes the text type of the project plan,and concludes its characteristics at linguistic,lexical,and syntactic levels.Second,Skopos theory is adopted to guide the translation of the project plan according to the main content of the source text and the purpose of the target text.Next,the report discusses how to get accuracy,readability and logicality in the process of translation based on the understanding of the content of the source text.In the chapter of case analysis,based on the differences in lexicon and syntax between Chinese and English,and under the guidance of the principles of Skopos theory,translation methods to deal with C-E translation of the project plan in terms of words,long sentences,and non-subject sentences are stated,including conversion,omission,adjustment of word order and application of passive voice.Finally,experience summarized from the translation practice is expounded.The report aims to illustrate how to improve readability and acceptance of translation and achieve the purpose of translation by adopting proper translation methods and skills in C-E translation of the project plan.The translator hopes to provide certain reference for the future translation of similar texts to improve the quality of translation.
