A Report On The C-E Translation Of The Construction Contract Of Changlongshan Pumped-Storage Power Station

I was entrusted in my internship to translate the Construction Contract of Changlongshan Pumped-Storage Power Station by CCJK,a translation company in China.In order to complete the translation task smoothly,I used Newmark's semantic translation theory and communicative translation theory as guidance to analyze the source text from the lexical level,syntactic level and discourse level,with the intention to find out the suitable techniques to translate this contract.A construction contract is a kind of legal document,characteristic of special usages of vocabulary,sentence and format.Through this translation practice,I have got to know the features of a construction contract and its corresponding translation strategies and skills.This report consists of four parts:Part one is an introduction to the background of the translation;Part two is a brief account of Newmark's translation theory vs.the contract in question;Part three is devoted to the analysis of the source textual features and their translations;Part four serves as the summary of what 1 have learnt from this practice.
