Translation Practice Report On Tianjin University Online History Museum

In recent years,a lot of universities in China joined the course of internationalization.As national key university,Tianjin University is no exception.Tianjin University is also strengthening foreign exchanges in order to attract more overseas students and scholars and seek more extensive international communication and cooperation.Tianjin University has established its own Chinese and English websites.In terms of foreign publicity,it runs ahead of many others.In celebrating its 120~thh anniversary in 2015,the university set up an online history museum in order to make more foreign friends know of its history.As a student of translation and interpretation in Tianjin University,I was entrusted by the university to finish some translation work of the online history museum.The report is based on the translation of more than 10000 Chinese words in total.The report is composed of 4 parts.The first part is a description of translation task and the second part is the process which contain the general introduction of this report,including the purpose of the task,target readers,preparation,different stages,proofreading and so on.The third part is a general review of linguistic adapation by Jef Verschuren and its applicability to translating online publicity materials.The fourth part is case analysis which is a study of the translation techniques from information,vocabulary and culture by using adaption theory.In the end,the report gives a summary of the translation of publicity materials so as to provide some additional materials for further study.
