In recent years, exchanges between China and Australia have become increasingly frequent. In particular, since the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement entered into force in December 2015,exchanges between the two countries have been increasing rapidly. The economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between countries rely more on the exchange of laws between countries. As a result, the importance of legal support and protection can never be ignored.Combining the current situation of legal exchanges between China and Australia and the current status of legal translation in China, this translation practice has emerged. This paper is a Chinese report on translation of Amendment 2007 of Property Law Act 1969 Western Australia. It has strong practicality and application. The full text is divided into five parts. The first part is the overall description of translation tasks. In this part, the translator analyzes the background and nature of the text. The second part is the introduction of the translation process.According to the chronological order,it explains the three stages including pre-translation preparation, translation process and post-translation proofreading. The third part is the elaboration of the basic principles of legal translation.During the translation process, the translator followed the four principles of legal translation by Professor Zhang Failian, and translated and revised the legal texts with strong professionalism and professional vocabulary. The fourth part is the main part of the practice report. In this part, the translator analyzes the entire translation process from the vocabulary and sentence level. As is known to all,the legal texts are characterized by accuracy, consistency, and legality, which puts high demands on translators' translation and proofreading. Finally, combining the whole process of translation, the translator made a summary. For Western Australia's Property Law Act of 1969,no one had previously conducted translation studies in China, and China has only a partial counterpart to the “Property Law.” Therefore, only a handful of domestic and foreign parallel laws can be used in translation. As a result, the translators mainly rely on translation theory, language ability, jurisprudence, etc.to improve the quality of translation. This thesis analyzes this translation practice, combining examples, discusses how to preserve the style of the original text in legal translation from the lexical and sentence level, how to faithfully translate to the translated language, summarizes the difficulties and coping strategies in the Chinese translation of legal texts.
