Redundancy And Tactics In English-chinese Consecutive Interpreting

To realize the purposes of consecutive interpreting and make it effective,Interpreters need to process the information correctly and rapidly without redundancy.But due to various differences between English and Chinese as well as subjective reasons of the interpreter,the target language may still sound redundant from time to time.Failing to deliver the speaker's message precisely and smoothly may cause some disturbs from the audience especially for some information-intensive source content.This thesis mainly discusses the problem of excessive redundancy based on the interpreting of two keynote speeches delivered during 2017 American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai SME Conference.By analyzing both objective and subjective causes of excessive redundancy,the thesis provides relevant solutions accordingly.Hopefully this thesis can help interpreters to avoid excessive redundancy and deliver concise and accurate source message.
