Analysis Of Typical Errors In Political News Translation

Political news reported by foreign media is of great referential value for strategical study and state policy-making.Thus,high-quality translation of foreign news on Chinese politics is crucial and imperative,which requests the high accuracy of target texts.However,translation errors usually lead to inaccurate target texts and provide readers with misleading information.In this thesis,the author summarizes and analyzes four major translation errors in political news translation,namely,inconsistent language style,wrong choice of translator's position,improper wording and false statistics and historical facts.The causes of these translation errors listed above include translator's poor understanding of the text features,incompetence in translation skills and casual attitude on the accuracy of target texts.Some advice on how to improve translator's ability in order to avoid such translation errors are given in the thesis,in the hope of offering some practical reference in political news translation to other translators.
