Middle school students are in adolescence,facing a huge psychological impact c aused by physical changes.At this stage,their troubles increase and their moods fluct uate greatly.If they are not timely guided,they are prone to occur negative emotions and even trigger attacks,which will harm their physical and mental health developme nt.Based on the investigation of middle school students' characteristics of the psychol ogical capital,explanatory style and aggression,this study aimed to further explore the relationship among middle school students' psychological capital,their explanatory style and aggression,and explored whether the explanatory style had an intermediary effect in the impact of psychological capital on aggression,so as to provide reference for th e healthy growth of students and the development of school mental health education.In this study,382 middle school students from a middle school in Handan district of Hebei province were investigated,using Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire(PPQ),Children's Attributional Style Questionnaire(CASQ)and Aggressive Questionnai re(AQ),372 valid questionnaires were collected.The effective rate is 97%.The concl usions were as follows:First,the psychological capital of middle school students was generally higher than the medium level.Boys were significantly more resilient than girls.The level of psychological capital of grade 8 was significantly lower than the grade 7 and 9,while the grade 7 students were more resilient than the grade 8.The optimistic level of middle school students showed an increasing trend with the grade.The level of psychological capital of middle school students who serve as class cadres were significantly higher than the students who were not.In particular,middle school students who serve as class cadres were more confident and had higher levels of hope.Students with better grades had higher psychological capital level.In particular,students with good grades were more confident,with higher levels of hope and optimism.The middle school students whose parents were in harmony had a higher level of psychological capital,showing more confident and more hopeful.Secondly,the middle school students' explanatory style was generally at a moderately pessimistic level.Girls were more inclined to make persistent explanations of posi tive events and give a temporary explanation of negative events than boys.The grade9 students were more inclined to make persistent explanations of positive events and give a temporary explanation of negative events than the grade 7 and 8.Compared wi th the middle school students whose parents were not in harmony or whose parents b oth died,the students whose parents were in harmony prefered the optimistic explanat ory style.Middle school students whose parents both died or their parents were not in harmony were significantly higher on hopelessness score(HOB).Thirdly,the total score of aggression of middle school students was normally dist ributed.Girls were more aggressive than boys,specifically are more prone to anger,v erbal aggression.The grade 8 and 9 students were more aggressive than the grade 7,especially in hostile cognition.On the physical aggression dimension,the grade 8 stud ents were more likely to occur physical aggression than the grade 7.Middle school st udents who serve as class cadres were significantly more aggressive than others,espec ially in physical aggression and verbal aggression.Middle school students whose paren ts were not in harmony were more aggressive than those whose parents were in harm ony.Fourth,the psychological capital,explanatory style of middle school students resp ectively showed a significant negative correlation with aggression.Psychological capital and explanatory style could negatively predict aggression.Fifth,the hopelessness score(HOB)and permanence optimistic(PMO)of middle school students' explanatory style played a part of intermediary role between the resili ence dimension of psychological capital and aggression.That is to say,the resilience dimension of psychological capital could directly influence the aggression of middle sc hool students,and indirectly influence the aggression by the hopelessness score(HOB)and permanence optimistic(PMO)of explanatory style.
