| EDST(English for Defense Science and Technology)translation is of great informativity as a functional informative text,with very unique translation requirements and characteristics in particular.It is the original intention and purpose of writing this thesis to achieve the goal of being both faithful to the source text and taking the target language readers' socio-cultural background into account in order to achieve the function of the informative text.This thesis takes the English to Chinese translation of Military Laser Technology for Defense as an example.Based on Nida's information equivalence theory,we try to analyze the phenomenon of nonequivalence of information in EDST translation,and compare the source text and target text of the translation practice materials by methods of division,conversion and explanation to illustrate how to achieve information equivalence between source language and target langue.Through the analysis of English literature translation strategies and methods in such EDST translation process,the efficiency and quality of EDST translation will hopefully be improved.Besides,we intend to give a reference for similar professional translation practice to further promote international exchange of military technology. |
