The source text of this report is selected from Education Studies: An Issue Based Approach(Third Edition),a social science book on education studies, edited by Will Curtis,Stephen Ward,John Sharp and Les Hankin, published by Sage Publications.According to the requirements of this translation practice, the author selects Chapter 6(Assessment)and Chapter 7(Community Education: Innovation and Active Intervention)as the source text, and this two chapter is mainly about the British teaching assessment and community education. The source text is informative text, focusing on the expression of the information rather than the form of the text. The report consists of four parts: the translation task description, the translation procedure description, the translation case analysis and the conclusion. The first part includes the task background and the nature of the task. The second part includes the preparation of translation, the implementation of translation plan, and proofreading. The third part describes the types of problems in the translation and the solutions to these problems. The last part is a summary of translation practice. The report, based on the communicative translation strategy, describes the problems encountered on the level of vocabulary and sentence and the strategies to solve them. For the vagueness of the words meaning, the author uses the strategy of extension and addition of the words' meaning. For the static and dynamic feature of Chinese and English, the author uses the strategy of transformation. For the different structure of Chinese and English, the author uses the strategy of voice conversion and the deconstruction and reconstruction of the complex sentences.
