Yunnan:One of the Most Beautiful Places in China is a book of the geographic series published by Jilin Publishing Group. It talks about 40 selected and beautiful places in Yunnan province,25 local ethnic groups and 20 recommended and romantic activities.Different from the traditional tourism text, this book does not center on the detailed introduction to the tourist destination, instead,it mainly depicts the wonderful experience and feeling of traveling in Yunnan and conveys an aesthetic enjoyment. As for the author of the report, this book is more than a tourism text due to its literary flavor. In this sense,Yunnan:One of the Most Beautiful Places in China is new and unique compared with the traditional tourism text.In this consideration, the author of the report has translated some chapters of the book and carried out research into its characteristics and translation methods.Guided by the Skopos theory, the author of the report firstly analyzes the characteristics and purpose of the source text and then sums up the major difficulties in translating the text from the perspective of cultural differences and differences in discourse,namely,culture-loaded words, sayings, gaudy sentences,no-subject sentences, parallel sentences. In light of the translation purpose of the source text, the author of the report comes up with the corresponding translation methods:annotation, explanation and imitation, omission, amplification, and restructuring. The research shows that tourism texts featuring strong literary flavor tend to have double purposes, namely,to familiarize the readers with the scenic spots and to convey the aesthetic enjoyment.Hence, the translation of this kind of text should not only maintain the completeness and readability of the essential information but also convey the language beauty and aesthetic enjoyment to the largest degree.
