Speech Interpretation Analysis Of 2014-2016 Summer Davos Opening Speech From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

Chinese Premier will make the opening address of Summer Davos to talk about the current economic situation in China combined with the international economic development,which is transformed to the guests all over the world by the interpreter.Summer Davos is different from the Press Conference because it belongs to the simultaneous interpretation with text.However,Chinese Premier always changes the original text,deletes some contents and adds new ones.In that case,text does not help.Instead,interpreters should listen more carefully and take proper strategies to transmit the related information.The Interpretive Theory is an interpretation theory which is widely recognized by the international community.Until now,the studies of this theory abroad are mainly from the perspective of interpretation teaching,the cognitive process and the criticism of it.And after the introduction of it,more and more scholars are attracted.The studies of them are mainly the pure theory introduction.In recent years,numerous students and scholars choose to make case study of the Interpretive Theory to discuss the applicable value of it,whose research subjects are mainly the Press Conference.Summer Davos was not attracted by many researchers.This thesis makes a qualitative research to analyze the interpretation of 2014-2016 Summer Davos opening address from the perspective of the Interpretive Theory.The original texts of the interpretation are from the LANGUAGE Tips and they are also modified sentence by sentence according to the on-site video.This thesis discusses the related strategies like semantic interpretation,information supplement and information omission etc.used by the interpreter during the process of interpretation from the perspective of cognitive equivalence.At the same time,interpretation strategies like word inflection,word supplement and sentence transformation are also discussed from the perspective of emotional equivalence with some specific examples aiming to give some inspirations to the interpreters.
