A Report On The Translation Of The Celtics Myths(Introduction And Chapter 1)

The subject of the translation project is selected from the introduction and the first chapter of the work Celtic mythology.This work,authored by British archaeologist Miranda Jane Aldhouse-Green,focuses on the myths that originated in early Middle Ages in Ireland and Wales.There are nine chapters in this work.The translator translated the preface and the first chapter(about 10,000 words),and the translation is used as the material for the translation practice report.The preface made an overall introduction of the work from different angles,and the first chapter described the Celtic world: space,time and evidence.Under the guidance of the theory of text analysis,this report explores how to use the techniques in the process of translating and using the principles of text typology as a guideline to solve the problem of effective information transfer between the source language and the target language Barrier.This translation report is made up of four chapters.The introduction of first chapter elaborate the translation task by stating its significance and background.The second chapter focuses on the theory of text typology and analyzes the source text by syntactic and stylistic features,and finally leads to the translation tactic.The third chapter described the difficulties in the process of translation,and demonstrates how the theory is utilized in syntactic level to overcome these difficulties.The fourth chapter draws a conclusion and experience to be learned.It also discusses the guiding significance of this translation practice to the future study and work.
