C-E Translation Of Non-subject Sentences In Project Management System

As a kind of practical style of science and technology,the project management system is a guarantee for the smoothly proceeding of the project.It needs to be translated into English in Sino-foreign cooperation.Therefore,this thesis chooses a project management system as the source language text to translate.Meanwhile,the thesis summaries translation strategies of non-subject sentences.Non-subject sentences are these that have no subject in immediate components.By analyzing the characteristics of the text of the project,we find that there are plenty of non-subject sentences.But there is a great difference between Chinese and English in structure.Non-subject sentences are rarely used in English,while they are widely used in Chinese,which brings difficulties and obstacles to English translation.How to accurately understand Chinese non-subject sentences and translate them into English that conforms to English grammar and expressions is one of the difficulties in the translation practice.However,the translation of non-subject sentences is the biggest difficulty that brings much trouble to the translator.This thesis mainly summarizes the translation methods of non-subject sentences in the project management system.Firstly,the thesis has an analysis of the source text.The author divides Chinese non-subject sentences into relative clause and absolute clause on the basis of available and hidden degree of the subject.Then it expounds the theoretical basis of non-subject sentences' translation--text typology theory.In the main part,the author sums up the corresponding translation methods of relative clause and absolute clause through the analysis of examples in the translation task.The translation methods of relative clause: add the appropriate subject,translate into imperative sentences and translate into “there be”sentence pattern;and translation methods of absolute clause: translate into passive sentence,use inverted translation and anticipatory subject “it”.Finally the author makes a conclusion towards the translation practice.
