This thesis is written as the translation report of Operational Performance of Net Zero Energy Buildings: A China Study, which is the thesis of a post-graduate student form School of Environmental Science and Engineering,Tianjin University. The thesis aims to investigate the operational performance of net zero energy buildings via a case study of an office building in China. This thesis consists of the following five parts. The first part is about background and significance of this translation. The second part is source text analysis, including the content, the text structure and the language features. The third part concerns the analysis of the translated version, including the readers, the structure and the language features. The fourth part analyzes the difficult points during translation process via some examples from the perspective of functional equivalence. The analysis focuses on the terminologies and different translation methods. And the fifth part includes the conclusion and what remains to be improved of the whole translation process. The translation has taught me a lot.Firstly,as a translation major,it's very important to know some translation theories, which is really of great help during the translation process.Secondly, since translation is related with the processing of language, the foundation of good work is that the translator knows well its mother language.Thirdly, the translator must have a good attitude towards his work, and a good translator should have a vast store of knowledge about language, for he may have to do any kind of translation. Finally,a work should be revised numerous times before it comes to the final draft.
