A Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of Environmentally Degradable Bio-Based Polymeric Blends And Composites

In an age of globalization,China is having frequent interactions with the West in aspects of science and technology,during which the EST translation serves as a bridge for the two different cultures.Petrochemical English is an essential part of EST,the study of which can not only promote EST translation,provide examples for other researchers,but also foster the international cooperation in chemical industry.Petrochemical English shares both similarities and differences with EST.The translators,firstly,shall be familiar with stylistic features of the text,related background knowledge,translation methods and strategies,and then use them flexibly in the translation process.This report,on the basis of the Skopos theory of Hans Vermeer,mainly attaches importance to studying the problems or difficulties met in the translation process by case study in terms of words,sentences and passages.At the end of the report,the translator draws a conclusion of difficulties and shortcomings met in the process,which may help to improve the translator’s abilities and enhance international cooperation in chemical industry in the meantime.
