Research On The Role Of Clans In The Rural Governance

China is a traditional agricultural country,countryside,agriculture and farmers constitute the three key elements of Chinese traditional society. Thus Chinese clan becomes a proper cut-in point to scholars in various fields who are devoted to the research of Chinese traditional rural society.As consanguineous organization in Chinese traditional society,the development of clan undergoes ups and downs,suffering frequent combats during the long history.But its constant renaissance reveals an inestimable strong vitality.The revitalization of village clansmen in contemporary China is already the fact without question.From perspective of politics and sociology, this article is divided into five part to analyze the relationship between clan and village governance.The second part mainly introduces the conception of clan,summarize the transformation tendency of traditional social clan and then analyzes massive revival condition in village and the reasons.The third part summarizes the effects of the clan force in rural grassroots governance.Clan may play a positive role while its negative effect maybe visible in some particular cases.The forth part discusses the regulations,the “elites”and some other important component of clan and their role.The fifth part illustrates the necessity of introducing traditional resource into rural modernization management.The last part makes a conclusion,then points out the necessity and possibility of rural clan continuation.
