A Comparative Study On The System Between The Imperial Examination And The Civil Servant Recruitment

The imperial examination system is a system of selecting an official in ancient China.Whether the western civil service system or the civil servant system of our country,they all have the shadow of the imperial examination.Although the civil service recruitment system and the imperial examination system are rooted in entirely different social soil,they have the similar spirit of "taking examination openly and employing selectively by excellency".Due to their similarities,maybe the imperial examination system can provide some inspirations to help us perfect current civil service recruitment system.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to discard the dross and select the essence from the imperial examination system,and solve some problems in implementation of the civil service recruitment examination currently.In this paper,the research’s methods are:comparative analysis and literature.The whole paper falls into six parts.The first part is the introduction which includes the background and significance of this topic,the relevant literature summary,simple definitions to the imperial examination system and the civil service recruitment system.The second part introduces other electoral systems before the advent of the imperial examination system.Then we can respectively generalize the historical evolution of the imperial examination system and the civil service recruitment system.By comparing,we would find out generalities between them.The third part compares the main content between the imperial examination and the civil service examination,which follows three aspects:the source of the candidate and the qualification of the examination,the test implementation and the result of admission.The fourth part analyzes the social impact of two systems,which includes three aspects:education,social psychology and their similarities.The fifth part further analysis the contemporary significance of the imperial examination system for us and how to perfect the civil service recruitment system.The last part is the conclusion.On the basis of review these research results,it gives prospect of the development of the civil service recruitment system and looks forward to build a high-quality civil servants who serve the people heart and soul for our socialist country.
