Study On The Empowerment Of Residents In Urban Renewal

The urban renewal not only reflects the development of history,but also embodies the contradiction of different social stratum.In the new era,the rapid expansion of the city was inevitable.Urbanization not only brought convenience to people's life,but also brought troubles.The people who lack of a voice and decision-making power became "vulnerable groups".How to reduce the exclusion feelings of the residents is the major issue that we should be paying attention to.In this thesis,we applied a study of how to reasonably empower the masses from the angle of governments,no-profit institutions and city dwellers.Based on the background of extensive renewal and reconstruction of old areas in urbanization process,the theoretical significance of this treatise is focusing on the discovery of how to applied the empowerment theory in the city renewal.At the same time,we try to study the theoretical research experience in western countries,in order to discover the blind spots and key points in our studies.And how to endow the residents "power" and construct a community empowerment mechanism,so that residents can have the right to speak and to participate in making decisions.What's more,the opinions which are expressed by the residents could help the city manager to make appropriate decisions.This thesis analyzes the types of empowering the city dwellers in the process of city innovation.At the vantage point of government-guaranteed,nonprofit-institution assisted and self-endowed powers,it aims to reduce the city dwellers' sense of“being weak” and provides the public with plans for workable requirement making channels in their participation in city innovation.Based on the research,updating the city renewal regulations,improving the residents awareness of rights can assist the residents to get the rights of participation in city innovation.
