Ancient and modern scholars have many important ways to read the history of scholarship. For instance pictures confirm facts, and find the truth in the book and find the historical events in the illustrations on history textbooks. Compared with the form of text, images have a more concise and intuitive features in the process of reflecting things. Although the versions of history textbooks are not the same, they have the same characteristic.The images are competed successfully with the text. With the gradual advance of new curriculum ideas, the illustrations on history textbooks have gradually been applied in teaching and the college entrance examination. They play an important goal to achieve functional history curriculum.The illustrations on history textbooks as an important curriculum resources, as well as written material, not only become one of the basic information of the students feel the history, but also become an important teaching material for history teachers. However, before the new curriculum reform, the traditional view of written material-based, supplemented illustrations occupies a dominant position in the long-term development of history educational. Either the teachers or the high school students have a certain degree of deficiencies in the interpretation and application of the illustrations on history textbooks. Through questionnaire survey, we can know, the main reason for this kind of problems including the factors of both teachers and students. First of all, the history teachers' attention to the understanding of the history textbook illustration degree is not enough, and history textbook illustrations about interpretation methods are ignored. Second, high school students have no consciousness of "reading history by the illustrations" and they have not master the methods of reading history textbook illustrations. In order to solve these problems, based on the new curriculum concept, analysis of the Yuelu compulsory textbook, this paper discusses the methods of cultivation of high school students'graphs reading ability. The ways have mainly four aspects:first, to cultivate students forming the habits of reading the illustrations on history textbooks; second, to train students the ability of reading the illustrations on history textbooks, and to discuss the interpretation method of each The illustrations on history textbooks respectively; Third, to practice the students' ability to explore the illustrations on history textbooks; Fourth, to foster students' reading ability in the illustrations on history textbooks.The illustrations on history textbooks as auxiliary part of the history textbooks, has an important role in explaining the written materials. In the process of cultivating the high school students'reading ability of the illustrations on history textbooks, pay attention to combining with multimedia technology to secondly develop and apply the illustrations on history textbooks.
