Study On The Group Work Of Migrant Children's Emotional Management

There's a significant trend of family migration with the large increase of migrant workers,and their children are facing the problem of meeting urban life. As an important psychological adaptation indicator,emotional management has been deeply concerned by academic circles. Most recent published data shows that a large part of these children always being with some harmful feelings like depression,anxiety and low self-esteem,so they are unable to fit into city life in a short time. How to promote their emotion manage ability efficiently with the team work method belong to social work specialty needs badly to explore and study for social workers.The aim of this dissertation is to evaluate service effects of the ability development and emotional state change after some team activities among the emotion manage research undertook by team work method of some migrant children studying at one primary school in Wuhan,then to explore the application of team work method and summarize effective skills in research.This dissertation roots in a city life adapting subject of migrant children initiated by Wuhan women's federation. By amount of questionnaire investigation, we researchers found some problems like instable emotion and a lack of emotion manage knowledge are being along with these children. After needs evaluating,we made team activities treatment plan through combining the ABC theory in emotion therapy models with team work method,carried out 6 times group events during 2 months putting 9 students who got a low emotional score as the object,got the positive effect that group activities worked in calculating migrant children's emotion manage ability and accumulated experiences for researching these social issues at last.Quantitative evaluation method and qualitative evaluation method were used in information evaluating. On one hand,we collected qualitative evaluation information byinterviewing the group members and observing their behavior during painting and writing.On the other hand,PANAS Emotional Scale and group work satisfaction scale were taken to contrast children's emotional sate before and after research,we assessed the service effect by studying data change,evaluated the whole progress and result of the group work in this emotional management research.The study suggests that,as a method of social work,the group work could promote migrant children's emotional management immediately and significantly. The six members got an obviously higher score in PANAS emotional Scale after group work and would like to learn the ABC emotion theory. What's more,qualitative evaluation indicates that these children have learned some emotional management skills and have taken it as an effective way to keep them in good spirits. So our research has produced good results.
