With the increasing development of China-Australia relations,Chinese teaching expanded in Australia simultaneously. In order to enrich my experiences of Chines teaching and investigate the Chinese teaching situation in Australian schools, I volunteered to teach Chinese in Bundaberg State High school as a teacher from July 2015.The thesis The Discussion about Chinese Phonetic Teaching in Australian Primary and Secondary schools-Take Bundaberg State High School for Example starts with introducing the current status of the Chinese teaching in Australian primary and secondary schools, and continues with the keynote of the thesis- phonetic teaching,presents the Chinese phonetic class of Bundaberg State High School(BSHS).Then,I took an experimental investigation to the students in BSHS about their learning results of Chinese phonetics.By analyzing the results of the survey,explored the methodologies that suit both the teachers and the students in Australia,and offered my proposed teaching case.In the end,I did another survey and analysis on the learning results after putting my teaching case into practice.The thesis is consisted of five parts.Part 1 introduces the aim and significance of the study,current status of the relevant study, routes of the study.It also presents the situation of Chinese teaching in Australian primary and secondary schools.Part 2 introduces the current state of Chinese phonetic teaching and analyzes the phonetic class of BSHS.Part 3 surveys the students in BSHS of their learning effects of the Chinese phonetics from the perspectives of initials,finals and tones, and utilize Praat to do the data analyses.Part 4 proposes teaching strategies and detailed teaching case on the problems concerning the pronunciation errors the students in BSHS have,and detect and analyze the learning results after then.Part 5 summarizes the results of the survey and analyzes the merits and flaws of the thesis.
