With the diversification of overseas Chinese teaching needs,overseas teachers need to redevelop Chinese teaching materials to adapt to the complex and changeable situation of overseas Chinese teaching.At present,the studies on redevelopment of second language teaching materials in China is mainly concentrated in English teaching while there are few on that in Chinese teaching at home and abroadBased on the primary and secondary schools in Victoria,Australia,with the theory of redevelopment of teaching materials,and with qualitative research methods,this study presents the redevelopment of Chinese teaching materials in Victorian primary and secondary schools through teaching cases,and investigates the influencing factors of redevelopment of Chinese teaching materials in Australian primary and secondary schools through teacher interviews and questionnaires,in order to provide reference for overseas Chinese teachers and compilers of overseas Chinese textbooksBased on literature review,this paper reviews the theoretical and empirical studies on the redevelopment of teaching materials at home and abroad,summarizes the background of redevelopment of Chinese teaching materials for primary and secondary schools in Australia,and points out the reasons for redevelopment of Chinese teaching materials for primary and secondary schools in Australia.Through a questionnaire survey,this paper investigates the use of Chinese teaching materials in primary and secondary schools in Victoria,Australia,and finds that the Chinese teaching materials used can be divided into published Chinese teaching materials and self-edited Chinese teaching materials.On this basis,this study obtains redevelopment cases of Chinese teaching materials through classroom observation and stimulating interviews,and analyses the influencing factors of redevelopment of Chinese teaching materials in Australian primary and secondary schools from four perspectives teaching environment,curriculum,teachers and students,and further researches the influencing degree of these factors through questionnairesBased on the analysis of teaching cases,interviews and questionnaires,this study concludes that the main factors affecting the redevelopment of Chinese teaching materials for primary and secondary schools in Australia are as follows:the mismatch between the teaching culture and the teaching obj ectives of the teaching materials,the mismatch between the syllabus and the relevance of the teaching materials,the mismatch between the curriculum time and the designed teaching time of the teaching materials,the mismatch between the curriculum obj ectives and the layout of the teaching materials,the mismatch between the teacher' teaching beliefs and the compiling ideas of the teaching materials,the mismatch of the teacher' personal style and the teaching methods of the teaching materials,the mismatch of the learners' language level and the difficulty of the teaching materials,and the mismatch of the learners' interest in learning and the teaching efficiency of the teaching materials.
