Professional values are value orientation in one's profession, what one cares about in profession, prestige,status or economic reward etc., indicating individual ideal to pursue in profession and therefore to realize value of life itself.This paper selects 711 postgraduates of 5 universities in Sichuan and Chongqing area for research subjects, and uses the University Students' Professional Values Questionnaire designed by Ling Wenquan(1999) as an investigative tool, and SPSS19.0 software for data processing.The study found:1. Overall situation of postgraduate professional values:(1) Graduate career values overall behave good;(2) In three dimensions of professional values, factor of selfdevelopment accounts most;(3) Equality of fair competition accounts most in factor of selfdevelopment;(4) Reliable labor, health insurance and pensions are thought most highly of in health protection factors;(5) Promotion opportunity is thought most highly of in the status and reputation factor.2. main features of graduate professional values:(1) 211 project university graduate professional values generally behave good;(2) Graduate professional values behave better in Sichuan than Chongqing;(3) Graduate professional values are affected little on sex;( 4) Student grades affects little on graduate professional values;(5) Experience of work affects little on postgraduate professional values.3. Graduate professional value's problems analysis:(1) Highly educated parents' professional value guidelines is not enough;(2) Political landscape matters little on graduate professional values, party members do not show positive professional values;(3) Art graduates professional values are inferior to science graduates';(4) Professional values behave less in postgraduate of age of 25 and below than age of 26 and above;(5) Non-publicly funded graduate professional values behave inferior to publicly funded graduate professional valuesThis paper,based on the study findings, demonstrates the importance and necessity of establish good professional values and then offers some recommendations in four aspects, including nation, university, family and individual. National and social recommendations:(1). Attache great importance to ideological and moral construction, strengthen the role of the socialist core values for guidance of postgraduate professional values;(2) Provide excellent employment policy for postgraduate;(3) Create a good social environment for postgraduate employment;(4) Create a healthy social atmosphere, public opinion.University recommendations:(1) Take political education as the principal and other education as supplements,(2)Stengethen the guidance of professional education,(3)Strengthen the education of combination of theory and practice; Family recommendations:(1)Ddevelop good family education;(2)Eemphasize on inter-generation professional values education; Individual's recommendations:(1) Ideologically attach great importance to professional values;(2)Estabilish correct professional values;(3)Strive to improve the overall ability and quality to enhance professional values.
