Survey Research On Application Mode For Academic Doctoral Admission

Academic doctoral students training is an important part in the cultivation of outstanding innovative talents in our country. The quality of academic doctoral determines the quality of innovative talents in our country. The key of improving the quality of academic doctoral students lies on implementing postgraduate training pattern reformation and perfecting postgraduate cultivation system among which advancing graduate admission reformation is an important and crucial step.The international experiences show that application mode for academic doctoral admission is conductive to select and train talents with creative potential. In recent years, application mode for academic doctoral admission have been introduced in some universities in our country and some achievement has been made. However,compared with the quality of doctoral cultivation and faultless admission system in United States and other developed countries,our universities still need to work hard to catch up with them. So investigating implementing situation of application mode in the process of doctoral admission in our universities and learning from regular pattern of application mode in the American universities have important meaning in both reality and theory for further perfecting application mode for doctoral students admission system.The main research methods of this thesis are documentation method, case study method, interview method and comparative study method. Firstly, study the connotation of the system from dimension of concept,history and system; then explore and analyze experience and operation law of the application mode for doctors admission in two prestigious universities in the USA. It is found that the application mode in American universities has some characteristics that are:the college takes charge of admission work and the supervisors have completely right in decision in enrollment; generally evaluating students'comprehensive quality by referring to grade; starting from admission and guarantee training quality consistently. After analyzing the basic situation of implementation of application mode for doctor admission in Chinese universities, this study chose Southeast University implementation status as the key-point survey object and found the application mode has the advantage of saving preparation time, evaluating students'comprehensive quality generally, enlarging supervisors'right in decision in enrollment. At the same time, it is found this mode has some problems to solve, such as lack of publicity, written examination has great impact weight, test questions lack of efficiency; finally, on the basis of comparison and analysis, aiming to solve the problems that have been found, the thesis put forward some countermeasures and suggestions to perfect application mode for doctor admission in our universities.
