In the context of the informationizing society,education reform has been imperative.According to the national educational policy,it is necessary to speed up the process of education informatization to strengthen the application of information technology in teaching practice and to train students with information ability.Geography in high school is featured in its regional and comprehensive characteristics.Some of the teaching content is so abstract and difficult with pretty epochal research,which causes higher demands on teaching methods.Information technology,with the characteristics of technological,informational and interactive,assists with geography teaching,which meets the demands of geography development and perfection.Nowadays there are a lot of theories and practices about integration of IT and geography,which forms a strike on traditional teaching methods with teacher as the core.Teaching effect decides its methods.Compared with traditional methods,the new one has great advantages in terms of strengthening its effectiveness with the help of IT.But there can also be disadvantages.Thus it is necessary to use it in the proper way.This essay,with the topic of “research on the application of IT on high school geography teaching”,aims at studying the application of IT on geography teaching from the perspective of effective education.This topic based on the previous research mainly for the reading of related literature books,in the research process of the different teaching methods of the class of students of the "High School Geography Teaching Effectiveness Questionnaire",the practice school geography teaching and research group leader and geography teacher in interviews.The data of these studies,will provide the realistic basis for the research.This thesis consists of seven parts,the two part is the introduction and related concepts and theories.The third part is the topic research,including survey research and interview survey.The fourth part describes the characteristics and principles of the application of information technology in geography teaching.The fifth part is to introduce the different stages in the teaching process,some effective strategies for the application of information technology.The sixth part is the problems and suggestions of the application of information technology in the effective teaching of high school geography.The last part is a summary of the research topic.The innovation of this project is studying how to use IT to improve geography teaching from the perspective of education theories.It is a new point of studying effective geography teaching,facilitating the combination of modern teaching methods and educational theories and thus motivating innovation of modern education theories,which is a great reflect of education modernization.So this study also has some guiding significance for geography teaching practice.
