In recent years,with the rapid development of higher vocational education in China,a large number of technical talents have been cultivated for the economic development and social progress.However,from the factual point of view,many problems still exist in the development of higher vocational education in China.It is important to investigate the motivation of higher vocational college and to cope with strategies positively and effectively,which has important practical significance to strengthen the higher vocational education service and speed up the development of modern higher vocational education.Firstly,this study systematically summarizes the current situation of the research on the theory of the entire motivation at home and abroad.On this basis,take Hebei Institute of Foreign Languages as the sample,using the questionnaire method and statistical analysis method to explore the higher vocational college freshmen motivation.The result shows that the family income of higher vocational college students from 1000 to 2000 yuan is the most,the second from 2000 to 3000 yuan,and the minimum from 4000 to 5000 yuan.Students enter higher vocational colleges for achieving the ideal,but the ideal of the specific content can not be determined.Higher vocational students have a clear learning motivation and employment motivation.And learning motivation is consisted of three aspects as "self-capability improving","career planning","desire for learning ".Employment motivation is consisted of three aspects as "ideal job seeking," "professional skills grasping" and "opportunity increasing to make money".Higher vocational colleges are not attractive to students,but students have the desire to receive vocational certificates through higher vocational education.Higher vocational students have strong independence and accept higher vocational education not due to real conditions and social conditions.The results of this study indicate that there are some differences between genders,between different sources,between different enrollment methods and between different family income levels.Higher vocational college enrollment motivation of girls in the "desiring to study","seeking ideal jobs" and "mastering professional skills","acquiring occupation certificate" are better than boys.Students from cities have stronger desire to continue learning of social motivation.Some of enrollment motivations on "expansively enrolled students" are obviously stronger than "single enrolled students".Students from middle income families believe that the current employment has not the advantage.The consciousness of continuing to learn is stronger than the students of higher income families.Especially the students of family monthly income more than 5000 yuan have significantly the highest estimation of employment advantages from the average income of the students in the middle and low.In order to enhance the service ability and social attraction of higher vocational education,to cultivate more technical skills for the economics and society,and to promote the development of higher vocational education,based on the present situation of Higher Vocational Students' enrollment motivation,this study suggests that employment services should be improved to stimulate the enrollment motivation of students,to innovate institutional mechanisms,to meet the enrollment motivation of students,to strengthen ideological education,to guide the enrollment motivation of students,to optimizeexternal environment,to encourage the enrollment motivation of students.
